You Continuing Education Needs:
If you are in the need of continuing education credits, we charge very reasonable rates for our classes. Normally hands-on classes cost more per hour than courses where you sit in a large lecture room and listen for hour after hour. It doesn't cost the teaching institution any more to add another hundred people to the room. On the other hand, our classes are designed to offer as much personal attention as possible. Our hands-on courses normally have a limit of 10 - 12 students per class, so that the teacher can spend time showing each student how the work should be done. We are really not interested in teaching classes where you are a passive student, we want you active and motivated to learn as much as possible.
We have identified specific areas where most providers are weak - and offer courses in these areas.

Endodontics: Here Dr. Donald Peters will take you in five days from simple single-canal cleaning, shaping and opturation, to doing the same thing on molars mounted in a maniken, so that access is more typical of what we find in patients. There are a variety of approaches available to endodontic treatment, and Dr. Peters will make certain that you are comfortable with each and decide intelligently what might be the most appropriate for a given case. Hand filing and engine filing will be covered during the course, and we have several different types of engine-driven systems available for you to use.
Removable Prosthodontics: While not a popular area, when anyone is in practice for any length of time in areas where partials and dentures are common, it suddenly becomes apparent that there must be a way to do these things that offer the patient more comfort, and you less headaches! Most practitioners actually have the LAB design the partial denture frameworks for them, and this can frequently greatly compromise the patient's long-term success. Have you heard the description of RPD's as "extraction devices"? Do your own work with a clear understanding of what the issues are, and your patient will be much happier. Dr. Robert Riegel is dedicated to do helping you feel confident about this.
This course is largely subsumed into the Implant Course - to be described below. Clearly, when removable prostheses are replaced with implant-borne prostheses - either removable or fixed - one must have a clear picture of what all of the issues are.
Implant-Borne Prosthetics: Our state-of-the art implant program is designed to help ALL dentists in current practice - for there are no offices where, at one time or another, implants should not be placed. Whether it is a simple single tooth replacement, a longer span bridge with adjacent natural teeth, or a fully implant-supported fixed restoration or overdenture, we will show you how this is done, and all of the principles behind it. We will get you from the beginner to the confident professional!
Restorative Dentistry: Every so often a dentist will come to us needing to review in detail the broader area of restorative dentistry. Perhaps they have been working overseas in another capacity for years, or they are starting to run a general practice, but have limited their practice to periodontics or orthodontics for years - either way some serious review is in order. The DDS Gateway program, taught personally by Dr. Duggan, is just such a course of study. Even recent graduates would be well advised to take this course, it will most likely permanently DOUBLE their comprehension of many procedures and their skill in these areas as well.
